See 12 bands from Delaware and Eastern Shore Maryland compete in the Region IX Championships. Awards will be given for Place, Best Music, Best Visual, Best Percussion, and Best Auxiliary. In addition, the University of Delaware “Pride of Delaware” Fighting Blue Hen Marching Band will perform in exhibition at the end of the show. All three district bands will be competing. November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and Appoquinimink School District is participating in a campaign to raise awareness about Type 1 diabetes (T1D) screening. Early screening can identify children at increased risk of developing T1D before symptoms become severe. On Friday, November 13, we invite our Appoquinimink family to wear blue to show their support. We like to extend a huge thank you to the athletes who attended our Youth Sports Day. This event gave students in grades five through eight the chance to meet high school coaches and student-athletes from across the district who play soccer, lacrosse, baseball, softball, field events, and flag football. Appoquinimink High School is proud to announce that Violet Sullivan and Sreesha Suresh have been selected as Semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program. High school students who take the PSAT and meet other program requirements are entered into the pool of applicants are entered into a pool of 50,000 high scorers. From there, two-thirds of those entrants will be named Commended Students, and 16,000 students will be named Semifinalists, demonstrating significant achievement for Violet and Sressha. The Appoquinimink School District Child Find Department will host meetings to provide information about equitable services as they relate to Child Find programming for school-aged students (grades PreK-12) for homeschool and private school students and their families within the Appoquinimink School District.
